Salt River

I was surprised when I opened an email from 104.7 KISS FM Phoenix to find I had won passes to Salt River Tubing in Mesa!

I decided it would be a great father and son adventure to spend some time together relaxing in the sun on inner tubes floating down the river. Spoiler… I was right!

On the last weekday of summer before school started, we jumped in the car after his morning football practice and headed out on the one hour drive. We stopped along the way and picked up some drinks and a couple sleeves to protect our phones; that was a great idea by the way!

We picked up our tubes and loaded the bus to get dropped off at an entry point. We decided to take a short 2-3 hour float and hit some rapids so we rode up to point 1 and decided to get out at point 2.

It was a great day as the river was not very crowded, the water was about 70 degrees and the temperature was around 105.

I highly encourage you to experience this adventure for yourself! Whether for a half day or full day, with a group of friends or even by yourself!

The Good:

  • Great Views from the Water
  • Relaxing and fun
  • Inexpensive Day on the Water
  • Wild Horses in the River

The Bad:

  • It's an Hour Away!
