  1. the condition of being physically fit and healthy.
  2. (fitness for/to do) The quality of being suitable to fulfil a particular role or task.

I tend to like the CDC’s definition of fitness: ‘the ability to carry out daily tasks with vigor and alertness, without undue fatigue, and with ample energy to enjoy leisure-time pursuits and respond to emergencies.’

Fitness requires the intentional and deliberate pursuit of developing yourself both physically, as well as mentally.
